National Council of Urban Education Associations (NCUEA) Summer and Fall Conferences

Fall Conference

Attendees of this NCUEA conference will set the agenda for the coming year and will be able to participate in training sessions and seminars to help them augment local programs and keep up-to-date on changes in urban education.

Summer Conference

Each year in June, before the NEA Representative Assembly, attendees of the NCUEA Summer Conference consider new business items, positions on NEA amendments, and other issues that could come before the Representative Assembly.

Regional Leadership Conferences

Convened annually during late winter/early spring, Regional Leadership Conferences encourage members to become more involved in Association leadership by expanding their knowledge of NEA, its programs and activities.

Minority Leadership Training Seminars

Held in early fall and late winter, Minority Leadership Training seminars provide members of NEA's four designated ethnic minority groups (American/Indian Alaska Native; Asian/Pacific Islander; Black; and Hispanic) the skills they need to be effective leaders in their schools, communities, and the Association.

Women's Leadership Training Program

Thousands of Association women leaders across the country have participated in the Women's Leadership Training, designed to meet the needs of emerging and experienced Association leaders.

Education Support Professionals (ESP) Conference

Convened annually, the ESP National Conference is a great opportunity for ESP members to develop new skills and learn more about relevant, important issues.

ESP Leaders for Tomorrow Program

Any NEA ESP member (K-12 and higher education) who has been an NEA member in good standing for at least the last three years may apply for the Leaders for Tomorrow program. Selected participants must be able to attend all three sessions.

Higher Education Conference

The 2010 annual Higher Education Conference was held jointly with The American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

Joint Conference on Concerns of Minorities and Women

The Joint Conference on Concerns of Minorities and Women, an annual two-day event, attracts more than 1000 education employees—active, retired, and student members; education support professionals; and higher education faculty. Participants explore human and civil rights issues, the latest education research and best practices, topical health issues, and other critical matters affecting public school students and staff.

NEA-Retired Meetings

Annual Meeting

The NEA-Retired Annual Meeting, held in June before the NEA Representative Assembly, includes the NEA Student Outreach to Teach activity, a presentation of annual awards, and the annual banquet. Official delegates to the NEA-Retired Annual Meeting with full voting rights for all elections are those NEA-Retired members elected from their State Association as delegates to the NEA RA.

Regional Conferences

Each spring NEA-Retired holds an East Regional Conference and a West Regional Conference with workshops, speakers, national leaders, and opportunities for networking and learning political information.
